Is Concreate flooring cold like traditional concrete?
No. Unlike solid poured slabs which are very dense and cold, Concreate panels are made with mineral cements and fibers that provide a softer, more tactile feel. They also possess excellent thermal mass, meaning they hold room temperature well and are pleasant to walk on barefoot.
Is it safe for pets and resistant to scratches?
Yes, Concreate is highly durable and pet-friendly. The high-strength concrete is sealed to resist scratches from dog claws. While no wood or concrete floor is 100% scratch-proof, Concreate’s natural patina and matte finish tend to hide micro-abrasions much better than glossy wood or tile.
Will it stain if I spill wine or coffee?
Concreate panels come factory-treated with a specially formulated oil sealer. This makes the surface resistant to common household stains like red wine, coffee, and oils. As long as spills are wiped up within a reasonable time, they will not stain the floor.
Is it compatible with underfloor heating?
Yes, it is one of the best flooring options for underfloor heating. Concreate conducts heat efficiently and evenly, maximizing the performance of your heating system and creating a cozy, warm environment in winter.
Is the surface slippery for kids or elderly family members?
Concreate has a matte, natural texture that provides good grip, unlike high-gloss polished concrete or smooth ceramic tiles which can be very slippery when wet. It is a safe option for family homes.
Does it contain toxic chemicals?
Concreate is a sustainable, non-toxic product. It is free from harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and does not off-gas, making it safe for nurseries, bedrooms, and homes with allergy sufferers.
How easy is it to clean?
Very easy. There are no grout lines to trap dirt (like tile). Simple sweeping or vacuuming, followed by mopping with our Concreate Floor Soap or a neutral cleaner, is all that is required to keep it looking beautiful.
What happens if a heavy object falls and damages the floor?
Accidents happen, especially in active homes. One of the massive advantages of Concreate over a poured slab is repairability. If you chip a solid concrete floor, patching it is invisible and difficult. With Concreate, because it is a panel system, a professional installer can remove and replace a single damaged plank, restoring your floor to perfection without redoing the whole room.
Is Concreate flooring loud or echoey like an industrial warehouse?
No. Traditional concrete floors are notorious for creating echoes and amplifying noise. Concreate panels are installed with a specialized adhesive directly to the subfloor (wood or concrete). This bonded installation acts as a sound dampener, making the room significantly quieter and reducing the “click-clack” sound of footsteps compared to laminate or floating floors.
Can we use Concreate in a family bathroom or laundry room?
Yes, it is an excellent choice for bathrooms and laundry areas. The natural resistance to moisture, combined with our factory sealant, handles humidity and splashes perfectly. It provides a spa-like aesthetic that is warm underfoot. Note: For inside shower stalls (wet rooms), specific waterproofing installation methods are required.
